Resveratrol - On the Rise

Resveratrol is in the news recently for it's alleged numerous health benefits including;
  • anti-cancer properties
  • antiviral
  • neuroprotective
  • anti-aging
  • anti-inflammatory
  • longevity

Being touted as a powerful antioxitant, resveratrol is found in the skin of red grapes, berries, and to a lesser extent in peanuts. It is also found as an ingredient in red wine (by virtue of its presence in the skin of particular red grapes).
It is acknowledged that the Chinese have been using resveratrol for hundreds of years
in traditional Chinese Medicine and now there is some discussion that resveratrol may be a significant factor in whats know as "the french paradox" - they have a much lower rate of coronary diseases than the US despite a diet that is high in saturated fats.
